CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - Republic Services — in partnership with the City of Citrus Heights, San Juan Unified School District, and San Juan Education Foundation — recently awarded their 2019 Sustainability Scholarships. Three graduating seniors from Citrus Heights were awarded $1,000 each: Bryan Pineda, Marisol Oviedo, and Katalynna Vang. The winners were chosen based on their interest in pursuing degrees in sustainability or who plan to use their degrees to benefit the environment.
Bryan Pineda attended the June 13 Citrus Heights City Council meeting where he was honored for his accomplishment. Pineda is graduating from San Juan High School, and he will soon be studying mechanical engineering at the University of San Francisco. Pineda plans to use his degree to find new technological solutions for renewable energy in the automotive manufacturing industry.
