Apply for the Sacramento - Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District Board
Nov 07, 2019 12:00AM ● By City of Citrus Heights Press ReleaseCITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (MPG) - The City of Citrus Heights invites interested citizens to apply for appointment to the Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District Board (SYMVCD). There is one appointment to be made.
The District is governed by a Board of Trustees, each representing one of the incorporated cities or one of the counties within the District’s boundaries. Each Trustee is appointed by the City Council of each member agency or by the County Board of Supervisors. Board meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in Elk Grove.
The mission of the District is “To provide safe, effective and economical mosquito and vector control for Sacramento and Yolo counties”. The goal of the District is to protect health and welfare from diseases transmitted by mosquitoes such as West Nile virus, Western Equine Encephalitis, canine heartworm, malaria and others.
Citrus Heights’ member is appointed by the City Council and must be a registered voter and resident of the City. The term of office for a member of the board shall be two or four years, at the discretion of the City Council.
Qualifications for the appointment include: an interest and desire in conducting effective programs for the surveillance, prevention, abatement, and control of mosquitoes and other vectors (Health & Safety Code).

Completed applications must be returned to the City of Citrus Heights, City Clerk’s office, by Friday, November 22, 2019, at 5:00 PM. No postmarks accepted.
